Christmas Lights Night

<?=$p->title?>

Broughty Ferry Traders Association is proud to announce the date for the seaside town’s annual Christmas lights switch on event on Thursday 24th November 2016, from 6pm.

The event has become a firm favourite with locals who enjoy coming together for this unique community event, marking the start of the festive season with fairground rides, street entertainment, performances from the Eastern Primary School Choir, Downfield Musical Society and presentation of the prizes for the childrens’ poster competition. There's always an exciting headline act at Lights Night - more info to follow soon!

BFTA are grateful to the event sponsors Gillies and, of course, to Radio Tay who really help the night go with a swing. The Traders are also grateful to Santa who has promised to be there on the night despite his obviously hectic work schedule at this time of year and to Dundee’s Lord Provost, Councillor Bob Duncan who will help switch on the lights.

BTFA Chair, Steve James said: ‘The Christmas lights switch on is great fun way to bring all of our community together to enjoy a good, old fashioned street party. There’s always such a great atmosphere and the lights give Broughty Ferry a lovely Festive twinkle, literally lighting up the town with the spirit of a Merry Ferry Christmas!’

The event kicks off at 6pm with the Eastern Primary School Choir, followed by presentation of prizes for the children’s poster competition and then a performance from the Downfield Musical Society.

  • BFTA presents donations to local charities from funds raised by community events.
  • Lights are switched on at 7pm by Dundee’s Lord Provost, Councillor Bob Duncan with the help of Santa.
  • Entertainment will be provided by Radio Tay and an exciting headline act - look out for more details nearer the time!

The Traders Association is responsible for major community events including Gala Week, Christmas Decorations and Street Concert, promotes Broughty Ferry in partnership with other local agencies, acts as an advocate in the best interests of the town where appropriate and makes significant donations to local charities.
