Broughty Ferry Traders' Association Announces the winners of the Xmas Light Night Children's Poster Competition

Local schoolchildren's talent shines through in their festive illustrations.

Broughty Ferry Traders Association challenged children from the town's three primary schools to some up with a special illustration which embodied the spirit of the season which will be used on the posters and leaflets to publicise the town's Xmas Light Night on Thursday 27 November. Communities Officer, Carole Jenkins, encouraged the schools to get involved and the completion was judged by local gallery owner, Sandro Paladini of Eduardo Alessandro Studios who also sponsors the competition.

Sandro said:
'We're proud to do our bit to encourage creativity amongst the youngsters of Broughty Ferry. They're clearly a very talented bunch because choosing the winner is always a bit of a challenge! Their illustrations will make our leaflets and posters extra special - which is great because we work hard to make sure that the Xmas Lights Night is a pretty special event in the Broughty Ferry calendar.'

And the winners are:

Eastern Primary:
1st prize - Erik Levack P3a
2nd prize - Isabella Passway P3b

Barnhill Primary:
1st Prize - Lucy McDevitt P7a
2nd Prize - Niamh Bain P7b

Forthill Primary:
1st prize - Robyn Anderson P2/1P
2nd prize - Rory O'Brien P3m
First prize winners will be given a framed copy of their design, an art set and ВЈ15.00. Runners up will have a framed copy of their design and an art set. Most importantly, their designs will become the posters and flyers for the Christmas Lights Night.

The main prize presentations will take place on stage at the Broughty Ferry Xmas Lights Night on Thursday 27 November 6 – 9pm.

YOU ARE INVITED TO THE PHOTOCALL:
All the winners have been asked to come along to Eduardo Alessandro Studios, Gray Street, Broughty Ferry at 3.30pm on Thursday 6 November 2014 for a photo opportunity with Sandro Paladini of Eduardo Alessandro Studios who generously sponsored the competition.

The Traders Association is responsible for major community events including Gala Week, Christmas Decorations and Street Concert, promotes Broughty Ferry in partnership with other local agencies, acts as an advocate in the best interests of the town where appropriate and makes significant donations to local charities.
